Attendance: Enabling your child to be successful

We are committed to ensuring that all families recognise the importance of 100% attendance. Regular school attendance is crucial for academic success. Research indicates that pupils with attendance below 95% are significantly less likely to achieve five GCSEs at grade 5 or above, which can limit their future opportunities and career prospects.

As part of our commitment to raising the achievement levels and aspirations of all students, we expect students to:

  • Attend school every day.

  • Attend school on time. Students have to be in school by 8.25 a.m.

  • School times are 8:30 a.m. – 3:15 p.m,  Monday – Wednesday & 8:30 a.m. - 2: 20 p.m, Thursday & Friday.

  • Be punctual to lessons.

Interventions:

  • Day to day – Contact from our Attendance Team.

  • 90 – 96% – Pastoral Leads and Head of Year.

  • Phone calls home/letters to make parents aware of deterioration in attendance.

  • Under 90% – Attendance Lead /AHT / PWO Phone calls/letters/meetings in school/home visits.

  • If no improvement – Attendance Panel Meeting with Headteacher and Governors. Referral to Court Officer for Penalty Notice or Prosecution.
